Being successful requires more than being good at getting your to-do list done on time and under budget. As we all know, working in business is highly political – and one can never have too many friends. You can’t be true friends with everyone, however.
So just how does one establish business friendships without becoming friends? The truth is that business friendships have more to do with respect and the exchange of energy than with shared interests. The more energy you give and the more respect you show, the more energy you’ll receive (without having to ask for it) and the more respect you’ll be given. Creating such relationships is easier than one might think: it all starts with a compliment.
